[nospaces] [break] With how difficult life would be at times, there would be moments where she would sometimes wonder where it had begun, what was her driving force to continue not only her line of work but also what let her to join up with this strange group called the “No-Namers”. In those moments her mind would drift off into some of her memories, such as this instance which happened over a year ago.[break][break] Amber-eyes, directed themselves to the barely visible scenery around them, only illuminated by the faint moonlight in the piercing the high windows. The warehouse wasn’t one that she wanted to spend a night in and that wasn’t due to the abundance of webs or the scuttling of the mice that made this location their home, but it was due to the fact that she found herself forced here against her will.[break][break] Was she feeling fear? A bit, while she was used to being in tough situations as she had no one else to rely on by herself for her whole life being kidnapped was something entirely different. She was tied to chair in an uncomfortably tight fashion; any pleas to the guard whom was now sleeping would fall on deaf ears. Seeing her situation, it would be completely normal to be fearful of the future, of what was to come.[break][break] ' I knew I shouldn’t have gotten mixed up with them.' The thought constantly being present in her mind, as her memory trailed back to a few weeks ago. As someone whom sold information as a living it was only natural there would be times where people would request certain info. Knowing why or for specific details wasn’t something she had never asked as that would normally steer away potential customers but her current policy ended up coming to bite her in the butt. The client was a member of a yakuza and the ones that she were gathering details on were of another clan and at the time she didn’t know that. One thing led to another and information about her work ended up being leaked to end up getting in the hands of some nobodies of the clan whom thought to capture her and bring her in so that they would have a chance to move up in the chain.[break][break] Reia bit at her lip in annoyance out of her ignorance, knowing fully well that she could’ve prevented this from happening if she wasn’t so driven by greed at the time. She was well aware that this may lead to something unfortunate befalling her given that she’ll be traded away to guys whom wronged, attempting to do her best in her mind to think up countermeasures in order to escape with her life still intact. Perhaps striking up a deal, agreeing to work for them would do? While it wasn’t something that she would be exactly fond of, it would be better than ended up a corpse or worse. As the hooded teen continued to think of ways to get out of this mess her hands would squirm around in hopes to loosen the rope around her, it was merely the same as wishing for a miracle but she didn’t have the luxury of thinking about her odds. can't fix this, i'm hopeless. my sanity is spent, just tell me where my time went ▼ | In the many years that Yūjin Inazuma spent roaming the streets of Tokyo as its unspoken protector, there were few and far too little windows of opportunity where he could allow himself the luxury of reminiscence. As he made his way through Akihabara, a familiar warehouse fell into view, and he found himself quietly pondering over a particular encounter with a certain young woman that occurred there roughly one year prior...
It happened on a summer night not unlike this one, with the public abuzz with the hype of attending the festivals and wearing their prized yukata for everyone to see. Like most folks, Yūjin only went to such gatherings for the chance to eat the food that got served on an annual basis; it was a far more practical reason to expose yourself to strangers than wearing "holiday clothes" that some punk could try to dirty.
Incidentally, it also appeared that a cluster of some rather unscrupulous-looking gentlemen speaking in hushed tones about "earning favor with the boss" caught the pointy-haired young man's attention. As fortune would have it, Yūjin was close enough to hear it all and could also maintain a low profile just by staying close to the crowds, blending even further with the purchase of a takoyaki skewer.
Under most circumstances, such behavior could have easily been chalked up as a couple of Maddened Royals looking to be showered with praise by their leader-in-chief. Yūjin rolled his eyes at the thought of Kimura's mugshot, but as he tuned in to their whispers from behind the savory taste of his takoyaki, he picked up on three distinctive syllables that made his eyebrows stand at attention.
Yakuza? That could prove a shade concerning.
"Thanks for the food." Yūjin's courtesy toward the vendor is brief and without the usual air of formality he often went the extra length to provide, as his instincts were desperately telling him to follow these strangers and see if it was a situation worth calling the police over. Ironically, they've been pretty unreliable as of late, but they were always worth involving in case it was an issue that they were actually capable of dealing with.
He picks up a small backpack, poised right next to his seat, and shifts into a slow stride as the men continue to lead Yūjin, unintentionally, to their current den of mischief. Maybe he would come to learn the true nature behind their attempts at secrecy? |

[nospaces] [break] Fingers fumbled in an erratic manner barely reaching the rope that kept them constrained, but all they managed were prods and pokes at the fibre object doing little to nothing that would aid the teen in her idea for escape. Yet she didn’t let that get to her, continuing her unfruitful work for the dwindling chance of freedom. After all, with the guy whom was watching her taking a nap on the job this could be her only chance left before he wake up or the guys that had left would come back into the premise, else freeing herself then would just be pointless as given her small stature it would be impossible for her to out brawn them plus if they were smart enough to get her caught out-thinking them would also be out of the question.[break][break]
Taking a glance at her captor in a state of repose, a sigh of disappointment escaped her mouth with enclosed lids at her current inability to do anything. It was ironic, the fact that she was in a situation like this. The reason why she had gone down the road of trading information was that it was profitable and a decent way for her to survive in this day and age where turmoil was often present. Yet it was the very same thing that had placed her in a situation where losing her life was a possibility. [break][break]
“I guess I might just have to bargain, put all my cards on the table and hope they bite.” She had little to none experience dealing with people like them, after all she wasn’t the kind of person to confront people at all, no she was a bit too cautious for such acts like that. That’s why her meetings with clients are all arranged by herself in destinations that she chooses, to have the upper hand when negotiating. But no, in this situation it would seem that she was the one at the disadvantage with all of her hope merely being placed on whether or not someone sees her as a useful pawn in a bigger game that she found herself stumbling into.[break][break]
A few minutes later with no progressed made on her attempted escape, the large metal door groaned as it was opened, revealing the sight of a pair of unfamiliar yet familiar figures that entered, only to close the entrance once they had entered. The one whom walked in front with a bit of stride to his step yelled towards the sleeping ‘beauty’, “Oi, what the hell do you think you’re doing asleep on the job. You’re meant to be watching this little bugger.”His hand pointed towards her direction, “You know these street rats always find a way to get the slip, can’t be too careful. If we can pass her over to the big boss we can start getting a slice of the big pie, so you better not mess things up for us.”[break][break]
As the man continued to scold his one of his partner in crime, the other one- a willow-like male came up to Reia to double-check that she was still restrained. With a whisper, the teen spoke to him quietly, “If you free me, I’ll pay you whatever you’ve been offered for this.” The man scoffed at the offer, eying her with a sceptical eye. “Sorry kid, bigger plans and giving how you look I wouldn’t expect much out of you anyway.” It was worth a try, but she knew very well that she couldn’t convince one of them to free her. She didn’t have much to offer, as he said she was only clothed with old tattered clothes, while that was for the sake of evading the eyes of others she also didn’t have cash to spend on stuff like new attire with what she’s been earning so far and given that these guys also confiscated the cash she had on her person she was literally broke so if her had took the offer she wasn’t actually planning on paying up.[break][break]
The trio went to discuss matters together, possibly to do with how, when and where they were planning to hand her over to their boss. All Reia could do was just stay sat, contemplating. While she could hope for something as unlikely as a miracle, life taught her better than to rely on things such as hope.

can't fix this, i'm hopeless. my sanity is spent, just tell me where my time went ▼ | As the alleys wound deeper into Akihabara's underside and further away from the luminous safety of the district's main streets, Yūjin carefully tailed the squad of goons as they babbled of their ambitions to climb the ranks and strike fear into those that cross their paths. But the more information they divulged to one another, the less sense Yūjin was able to make of their running agenda.
Once they reached the actual venue in question, Yūjin broke away from tonight's subjects of interest and crept along a shadowy wall of an adjacent building, making sure to confine the dimensions of his form to wherever the darkness fell so that his quarry would not notice. That the place was free of any loose debris made sneaking a little easier.
The backpack slung around Yūjin's shoulders begins to move and rustle, forcing the young man to give it a soft couple of pats. "Stay still." He commands with near-total silence; for whatever reason, the satchel complies and refrains from any further movement.
When Yūjin was close enough to reach the warehouse proper, the sudden grating creak of two metal doors being opened forced him to crouch low to the ground and remain pressed against the wall, just barely able to avoid falling into the kidnappers' peripheral view. He takes a deep breath, thankful to have avoided a snafu, and remains planted firmly where he sat to engage in another round of eavesdropping.
Of all the voices to bark and grumble tonight, only one stood apart from the rest, and all was made perfectly clear to Yūjin Inazuma – a lone female was offering to pay these gentlemen a hefty sum of money in exchange for her release, and these men refused to let her go on the grounds that exchanging her would net them some kind of bonus with the Yakuza's running leaders.
But going in without a proper strategy would be dumb and reckless, Yūjin thought, and the urgency of the situation didn't help make the lack of a plan any less stressful. Just as the possibility of biting off more than he could chew was about to sink its way in, an idea struck Yūjin like a bolt of lightning, and he carefully reaches down toward his belt to retrieve a small leather box.
Maybe what he needed, was the element of surprise... |
