Curiosity did not kill the cat...but rather pushed things in motion.[break][break]

Uesugi is a name that was name that reached across the lands of Japan long ego. The blood of a warrior clan that had the strategy to lead a nation to water in the Sengoku period still runs through veins even now. Hikari, a young child that is the descendent of such a family, channeled this boiling bloodline in another way. It was not out of a lust for battle or a desire for victory, (not at the start), but rather a loneliness that had been prominent for the first eight years of his life. As he spent his days secluded from others, being called “disgraceful” due to his public displays of weakness, and futility in the face of adversity; Hikari wished to belong. With a family that stood at the top by name and focused on nothing else, this drove him to feel even more lonely than before.[break][break]

This belonging turned the “cogs” that would set time forth..[break][break]

Virus had set things in motion as it clawed at the thin veil of the barricade that separated the Human and Digital Worlds. Even if this phenomenon, one that was thought of something horrific at the time due to the impending doom, Hikari had been an optimistic child that would take the victory and sacrifice of the Digidestined to be something admirable and idea. As a standard of “being,” he admired them to his most deepest of sentiments, but this would soon be warped as his desire to know of this “other world,” the Digital World, would grow and consume him.[break][break]

Hikari did not want anything malevolent: rather, he wanted to make friends![break][break]

The Digidestined and their Digimon companions were something that drew him like a fanatic or a saint to worship. Even if he felt like no one else would understand him, due to their lack of morals, people who knew sacrifice and true suffering would be able to sympathize. Almost daily, he wished for this fantasy world where he would be able to emulate the heroes/heroines of lore that had saved the world. His heart would be set on seeking a companionship and connection to others would call out.[break][break]

In the end, this drew a curious “cat.”[break][break]

Hikari’s ambition drew Bastemon, an alluring Digimon that fed on the strong desire of another. Through a connection, one that he was unaware of, Hikari had grown fond of the ideas implanted in his head by the feline Digimon. Lack of confidence and low self-esteem was transformed into decisiveness and devotion! Bastemon, through consistent chats and allure would entice Hikari to “learn” in hopes that he would be strong enough to be by her side as a partner.[break][break]

Five-years over, Hikari had spent this time shaping his personality through achievement and bolstering. Unknowingly, Bastemon poisoned him through consistent charming and motivation stirred to turning him into something he he feared before: his family. With Bastemon insisting she was his friend, Hikari would start to become more self-involved in his development, even engaging in Hyper Coliseum on basis with the card game Digi-Modify to prove his worth as a “Digidestined.” The poisoning became a sickened state of self-entitlement and delusional thinking that was caused by Bastemon manipulating him, in the end, getting what she desired: a Tamer with a strong-heart that would be able to support her.[break][break]

Only when she had crossed the threshold of Flesh and Digital, the Bastemon become an actual threat. Her machinations eventually would become noticed by HYPNOS and the effect on the young boy who would be taken into custody as a means to bate the Digimon. Bastemon, in the end, would flee in order to abandon her “doll” per say, and Hikari would be left to HYPNOS to be studied, monitored, and eventually experimented using Cognitive-Behavior Interventions, regular Psychological Assessments, and extreme Electrical Shock Exposure in order to undo the long-term “reprogramming” of both Bastemon’s exposure of words and suggestion (via a Prototype of Brain Scrambler).[break][break]

Hikari’s family did not mind this reconditioning at all. They would see the underlying damage to Hikari and think of it as trivial or even be passive about it. His cries of himself being “important” or having a “destiny” went on deaf ears to them, as all things did, and he was left to the poking and prodding of the agency and its researchers. It had taken three years of Hikari’s life, exposure to these assessments while trying to be bait for their target, to which he would eventually become reprogrammed under a new suggestion through Classical Conditioning. Hikari’s psyche, due to pressure from his family, his abandonment from Bastemon, and his trauma from being restrained and exposed to such experimentation; would warp and twist him into something that was more “mad.”[break][break]

This was the best that HYPNOS could do under the circumstances…[break][break]

Hikari would be released back into society with his family’s indifference. The only true feeling of satisfaction shown was that his personality had become more esteemed and less delusional. Even if a shadow of himself, a boy that was once lonely now making demands and throwing around his family’s name, Hikari had been a more preferred item of the family now as he shown himself to be more chaotic, and less submissive. Thus, a cruelty was born in him that wishes to rip away from attachments for the sake of strength and notoriety of his own accomplishment.[break][break]

Hikari had demonstrated this show of bolstrious behavior and pride in his transferring into school. Those who had remembered him, a weak part of him, would see that he had a short-temper for reflecting on that shell of himself that had strong belief in virtue. He would even deny himself in a frenzy when he felt his current self is threatened. To no end, he has shown a strong desire from his final days in school to now where he would feel as if he played second to no one![break][break]

What was left of Hikari’s innocent adoration for the Digidestined was torn out of him through HYPNOS and twisted by Bastemon. Serving his time in the spotlight, the young boy had changed his name to be something more socially appealing: “Usagi,” a mispronunciation of his family’s surname as he demonstrates his rebellion. His constant charm and plotting, traits of Bastemon that rubbed off on him, had become a prominent part of how he deals with the public as he deals with others and flaunts himself with effeminate charm that comes from him augmenting his features to further rebe (ex: Dyed hair, heart-shaped tattoo on his face, suggestive feminine laces and clothing).[break][break]

It was only because of this yearning for strength and freedom that he caught the attention of The Maddened Royals.[break][break]

As he decided to handle imports and exports, Hikari had handled some of his family’s money in order to manage a Flower Shop he had declared to be called “Tokyo Bloom.” With his desire to blossom and grow in strength, the Flower Shop became a symbol of his devotion to flourish in the world and be seen by everyone rather than have an actual bond with them as desired before. Due to the traffic of the Flower Shop, from many factions, the small building that act as his apartment/business is often referred to as “Palace.” [break][break]

Palace had received its name not from the people, but a rather “Curious Cat.” Bastemon, returning as Salamon, had introduced herself to Hikari only when he settled in this peculiar home. With her first task, approaching him again when deemed safe, she had continued her original conquest to become strong through shaping his heart into something that desired strength. Though finding it problematic, due to how Hikari changed in light of HYPNOS experiments and conditioning. Though common ground was easier to find as the desire of status and strength was something that they both could agree on. Thus, a partnership between the two would flourish as Hikari Usagi and Salamon would name their new home, “Palace.” A place fit for a Prince and his Pet, and anyone who wished to see him. [break][break]

Even if a small building, Hikari authentically flaunts himself using the association with The Maddened Royals and any faction that would come to buy flowers or buy the latest Digi-Modify cards that had become prominent items that most factions would want to get their hands on. Thus, Hikari would pour green tea and declare his Flower Shop funded by his family’s money and workers to be a “Safe House” for any who desired to simply have relief. [break][break]

Even if he does play many sides, Hikari seems to do it with the primary interest which the Royals stands for: prestige. He covets money and his reputation above all else! Thus, he has a principal and codes to be followed when people dwell within his “Palace.” Not only that, but he often acts in a very assertive way wherever he goes, all for the sake of him not being challenged by commons. This often leads to the “No-Namers” seeing him as antagonistic even if he does not abstain from doing business with them. Making such comments as, “All money is clean in my eyes,” or “Only because I allow.” [break][break]

Although hie comes off as shrewd, uptight, and quite flirtatious due to his warped nature and twisted personality, he remains to have weaknesses. He avoids personal associations or approaches due to the vulnerability it brings. As he has become warped with the idea of his family’s reputation ideas, translating them into business statutes, he often tries to be formal. Often, this leads to him being more perverse than anything. Especially when Salamon is around, usually trailing close by on paws high above or lurking in the shadows, he acts most nonchalant and confident. Only when he is truly vulnerable, alone if not exposed for his past self, he crumbles.[break][break]

It is inevitable as he buries parts of his persona that are waiting to be unearthed from beneath his reputation and business-like attitude.
