It has been ten years since a malignant threat modern history remembers only as "the Virus" attempted to emerge from the mysterious Digital World in a bid to erase mankind. The very first humans to become what are now called "Tamers", a team of children the whole of Japanese society venerates as the "DigiDestined", have triggered a chain of events resulting in uncontrolled acceleration in the number of youth with Digivices and continued increase in Digimon presence throughout Tokyo. Factions headed by these living legends have suddenly embroiled the newest generations of Tamers into a conflict for dominance over Tokyo's digital underground. Even the Digimon themselves have been relegated to a consumer commodity, spawning seasons of anime, volumes of manga, countless toys and video games, and even a collectible card battle game.
